Doug Jones, is an avid outdoorsman. His main passion is riding his mule Pepper all over California. But when an opportunity to do something a little different came up, he jumped at it. Here is his story!
My girlfriend and I wanted to go on an ATV tour racing across the Nevada desert for my birthday Feb 6th 2016. Over Christmas we had enjoyed the sand terrain north of Vegas with another outfit and wanted to try something different.
Vegas Off Road Tours came in very highly rated and so we decided to check them out. We rented a Polaris RAZR 1000. It hauled ASS (50+ mph) and was well worth the extra $100!! We started our off-road adventure in the small town of Good Springs about 30 min West of Las Vegas. The pit crew was so cool, they had a real family feel and they sure showed us a great time!
Mel and Debra walked us through all the safety items and told us what to expect. We we were out over 3.5 hours and drove over 40 miles on both wide dirt roads and narrow 4WD trails. We stopped for a cool drink at a local watering hole about 2/3 of the way out and then finished off with BBQ steaks for lunch when we got back to Good Springs. Along the way we drove in the snow, stopped at an old copper mine, and checked out a small herd of wild mustangs. We never felt rushed and because of all the cool stops we got back a bit late (so don’t plan anything too close to your “back to hotel time”).
It was a blast!! We will definitely repeat! I had my trusty GoPro Hero4+ on pretty much the entire trip.
